Ok, how it possible that EVEN your review of a television show makes me well up and shut the tears back in my head?! I mean seriously Steph. . . This recap is next level. Do you watch with a notebook? How did you even notice the music easter eggs? I am FOR SURE going to watch my season 2 appetizer before I dig into the season 3 main course. As someone who has practically never worked in commercial kitchens, I still loved this show for all the reasons you said. And the hospital/hospitality reference seems apt. Jeff always says the best way to prepare for a career in the ER is to wait tables in a batshit crazy restaurant at the dinner rush.
Ok, Smarchy, this post prompted me to join your SubS. ALL of this!! Richie won my heart in Season 2. I am buckled up and ready for Season 3. I am not sure how they will top or even hold even with the past portfolio of episodes, but I am thrilled to partake!!!
Wow! I don’t think I get this much out of any show I watch (admittedly I don’t watch tv). I did start The Bear, but it was just too much anxiety for me to ‘bear’. Love reading about it, though! Beautifully written as always!
I can’t wait to watch the new season and am so glad I read this before starting! Love the theme of finding softness in the chaos. Thanks for sharing how your brain and body conversed with this beautiful show/modern allegory.
outstanding write up of a show I love! You are so damn talented
Thanks Julie!
Nailed it! I only wish I could describe why this show resonates half as well as you did.

Jeff's ER stories are as equally scary as the kitchen stories we tell. Truth to that! XO
Can't wait to watch! Excellent write up.
