I love your description of college friends. All of this is true. I left a small town for the big city because I wanted away from my high school classmates. I was a new person. I could be whomever I wanted to be. And my college friends knew that ‘new’ person - before boyfriends, before marriage, before careers, before motherhood. None of these other things are bad for me, mind you … but wow, when I put on my maroon and gold and head to campus tomorrow for the MN - Iowa football game, I am going to have all the feels. September feels. 👊🏻
Well, if September 21 brings you some negative feelings because it was your anniversary date, you can now start thinking of it in much happier terms. It’s my birthday. And along with thousands of other people, I will take ownership of Earth, Wind & Fire’s September. I loved them before they even created that song. It will be played tomorrow, and perhaps even a few dance moves will join.
