Welcome to Pickle!
This is not about food.
Ok, well truth: when I order a burger and need to make sure it’s correct, my mod is … pickle city.
But that’s not this.
This is about all the things other than food that I want to write and talk about, but am sick of just giving to the Instagram corporation which owns whatever you feed it. What I really want, besides a correct burger order, is a strong community of women.
Good news: I have one!
Better news: So do you!
Because a lot of you have reached out to me and said you’ve been impacted by things I’ve written or posted about, that you have the same feels, or even more feels, and guess what that does? It creates a community.
Why Pickle?
Because there’s something about seasoning and time that creates the thing, the salty twangy bit which brings all other parts into harmony. Fermentation is just moments at work to prove the one true thing I know:
There is magic in change.
So that’s what I want us to talk about: aging, creativity, love, fear, parenting, loss, grief, ambition, frustration, joy. All the things that change us into that perfectly imperfect being.
Women are the core of my strength, I could not have made it to 53 without the ever-evolving clutch of women in my world. But I want to make clear that anyone who chooses to join the ranks of womanhood is welcome here. In for a penny, in for a pound.
As for men, you’re welcome too, with a caveat. Like Meryl Streep says, women speak the language of men, we dream in it. But men don’t speak women. So if you’re here to better understand the language of women, the way to do that is: listen.
And so my peck of pickles, how does this roll???
Some of Pickle will be free and open, and some parts will be subscriber only content. I think that’s important to create a safe space for discussion, because you have to have skin in the game to comment. No trolls, yo. The money that’s made on subscriptions will go to paying other women to post in this space. Ultimately I want to amplify the light which means giving platform to other voices, it’s not all about me. Once we get rolling I will set up submission guidelines. So excited!!!
To start, let’s plan on a linksy fun post to come to your inboxes on Friday, then you can pretend to work the rest of the day while following book recs, articles for the world, inspo for the weekend. Then on Monday morning, you’ll get a read that you might dive into right away to set your mood for the week, or maybe you add it to the tabs and let it bug you until you have the right moment.
Will there be podcasts? Will there be playlists, travel tips, real world meetups and brownie recipes? WHO KNOWS! But … likely. I’m def working on some merch for y’all. Anyhoo, thanks for reading this far, if Pickle sounds like a fun place to hang, sign up!

» Or maybe you’re just a movie nerd who’s into a cool data dive on Title Drops (when a character in the movie says the actual name of the movie, in the movie). This post will pull you in!
